Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income started a trend back in 2008. Pat blazed a trail and started something that was unheard of at the time. He has built an incredible online business by being open, honest and transparent. Something rare with online marketers, unfortunately.
He consistently does $80,000 – $90.000+ per month with his blog and he shares his numbers with you. Each and every month he publishes a post about his monthly income.
He shares everything.
You can see all his reports from the last 7 years here.
***UPDATE*** Pat Flynn likes the idea
Instead of jumping on the income bandwagon, 7 years late. I wanted to do something different.
I, like Pat, want to blaze my own trail.
I want to do something different. Something to inspire others to follow my lead.
Now, I understand the Internet is absolutely huge, but from what I can tell, this has not been done before.
I love the quote from Tony Robbins;
The secret to living is giving
My Monthly Giving Report – December 2014
This is the first post of a series of reports where I plan to share what charities I am donating my money to each month. Also, I’ll share how much I donate to each charity as well. I’ll share my goal at the end of this post as well.
One of the reasons I got into business was to give more. I have not been as consistent with it over the years, so I am making it public.
I am doing this for two reasons —
- Hold me accountable — not just to follow through with it, but to always work on increasing my donations each & every month. I’m extremely competitive, so this will make me strive to give more every month. It’ll be a win-win.
- Inspire others — this is a big one. I really want these posts to inspire other entrepreneurs, business owners and people to give more. Pat started a trend with the income reports, I would like to start a trend with the giving reports. Not really to blog about it, but to do it. Although, if they do blog about it, I would assume that would inspire even more people to give — which is a GREAT thing!
If you cannot afford to donate money, why not volunteer your time? There are many non-profits/charities in your area that could use a hand. A couple hours a month would help just about any non-profit.
You know the interesting thing?
You will get more out of it than the non-profit does.
I am part of Rotary and we do monthly service projects. I try to volunteer for as many as possible.
Here is a picture of us helping with the 4th of July parade last summer. The arrow is pointing at this guy 🙂
In fact, I am going down to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission (with Rotary) next Wednesday evening to help feed the homeless. To say I am excited, would be an understatement.
Another Tony Robbins quote that I love;
That is my motto for 2015. Do, give, share and create more. I am focused on what I am leaving behind, my legacy.
As Steve Jobs would say, I am just trying to make my dent in the universe.
Giving Back 10%
In the post from last month, I talk about the training website I created in October called Elite Agent Inner Circle (find out more here). I decided to donate 10% of all revenues from the training site to charity.
Currently, I am donating the money to The Key Foundation, a local non-profit of veterans helping veterans. I have two other non-profits I plan to start donating to as well. I will reveal those in a future post.
Here are the numbers so far;
October/November Donations: $69
December Donations: $73
Total Donations: $142
Certainly not the numbers I want, but I understand I have to start somewhere. The feeling I get when handing that check over is something money cannot buy.
I actually just got back from lunch with Steve (The Key Foundation) to hand over the check. Just like last month, I left the place with a big smile on my face.
Conclusion & My $50,000 Goal
My goal is to be donating $5,000 each and every month to charities. As of right now, I would like to split that up with three charities (Key Foundation & two others), but understand things can change. As of right now, that is the plan.
I know that is a lofty goal, as that would translate to generating $50,000 in revenue from the training site each month. I am currently reading a book called The Magic of Thinking Big, so I am putting it into practice and thinking big.
When I was working construction, back in 2007 – 2009, I made about $5,000 per month. I always thought it would be cool to donate “my old salary”, each month, to charity.
