This was something I wrote last year on my other business website, but wanted to share it here.
Most businesses think they can set up a Facebook Fan Page and people will flock to it. Maybe if you’re Nike, McDonald’s or Walmart, but not Joe’s Plumbing. It takes time. Even if you are a well known brand doesn’t mean it’ll be a success.
This brings me to a company that is hitting a Social Media home run….
I am sure you have seen their commercials, if not, here is their YouTube page.
They are doing it right. They are connecting with their audience/customers on a personal level. They are a huge brand, but they are reaching out to the little people “us”.
If you’re big, act small. If you’re small, act big.
This is exactly what big corporations should be doing in today’s business world. Social Media has changed the game. Companies like the ones I mentioned above (Nike, McDonalds and Walmart) should take note on what Wheat Thins is doing and doing so well.
I’ll be a Wheat Thins customer for life because they are showing me and everyone else out there that they care about their customers. And they have an awesome product.
Think about it…
If Wheat Thins comes to your door and gives you a lifetime supply of crackers or calls you out on a tweet or you win a contest, you think that’s not going to stick with you for awhile? They have won me over any other snack competitor. You’ll tell everyone you know (using Social Media) about it. It’s genius marketing and it gets people talking about the product.
I am writing this post because I honestly love what Wheat Thins is doing. I am also writing this post because I won a contest titled, The Crunch Den. I get to take 3 of my friends to go to the Hardwood Suite inside The Palms Hotel & Casino.
Do you think I’ll be tweeting and Facebooking and telling all my friends about this?
I have told this story hundreds of times. Guess what else I do every week at the grocery store?
I pick up two boxes of Wheat Thins.
That is how Social media works.
Job well done, Wheat Thins!
