Don’t over complicate this.
This is a very simple strategy that flat out works.
It’s called “the 9 word email”.
Now, I did not come up with this. Joe Polish & Dean Jackson of I Love Marketing is where I heard it from years ago.
If you Google “9 word email” (see Google results here) you’ll read about the success stories of people using it in a lot of different markets. From carpet cleaners, to real estate to marketing consultants and selling cars — this just works!
If you have a database of “older” leads, say 90 days or older, give this a shot.
We just did this for a private client of mine with a small database of around 100 leads. Some of the leads he had not communicated with in about 5 or 6 months.
We sent the email on April 15th.
We got an open rate of 30.81%, which is outstanding as we have not been in touch with these people for quite some time.
Average is typically around 16-20%.
My client emailed me that he is showing a home from this one email we sent.
Remember — this was to a database that he had not communicated with in quite some time. It was for a market that was a bit of a drive for him.
He now serves in his backyard, so to speak.
I wanted to test it out for him as I have had success with it in the past. In fact, you might have received an email like this from me in the past.

Here you go…
Subject: Their Name
Are you still looking to buy a home in CITY NAME?
Simple. Short. Effective. .
Like I said, do not over complicate it.
Yes, in my example, I used 10 words, but you get the point.
If you have a database of older leads, give this one a try. If you are not using an email service provider (shame on you) for sending out email blasts, have your assistant send these out individually.
More time consuming, but it’ll be worth the effort.
